Cheesman Park Neighborhood Information

Chessman Park was established in the early 1900’s following the death of Walter Chessman. The city consented to the name after the family offered to donate a Greek pavilion. The pavilion became a popular outdoor concert and entertainment venue.

Today, Chessman Park is made up of 2 historic neighborhoods: “Humbolt Island” (running along Humbolt and 10th and 12th Avenues) and “Morgan’s Addition” (running along 9th Ave between Race and York). These areas include some of the most diverse architecture in Denver including mansions, Bungalows, ranch homes, high rise apartment conversions, and luxury condos.

The highlight of living in Chessman Park continues to be the Denver Botanic Gardens and the historic Denver Botanic Gardens House. Grab and blanket and a picnic and enjoy the music of various artists on a warm Colorado summer evening and you will know why you picked Chessman Park as your home.
